Mark E. Petersen, 63
Mark
E. Petersen, 63, of West Bend, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at his cottage
in Lac du Flambeau.
He was born March 11, 1947, in Milwaukee, to the late Elden and Pearl (nee
Smith) Petersen, and married Linda Schumacher on Aug. 29, 1970, in
Menomonee Falls.
Mark served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Following his discharge he worked
as an insurance adjuster for over 30 years for the Crawford Company, West
Bend Mutual Insurance Company and Allstate Insurance Company.
He was an enthusiastic college football fan and especially enjoyed
watching the Badgers and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and
enjoyed model trains. Mark loved spending time up north and built a
cottage on Broken Bow Lake in Lac du Flambeau.
Mark was a longtime member of the West Bend Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; three children, Eric (Sherry) Petersen
of West Bend, Julie (Chris Krueger) Petersen of Jackson and Adam
(Jennifer) Petersen of Janesville; and six grandchildren, Kelsey, Katie,
Ashley, Kyle, Alejandra and Brooklyn. He is further survived by his
brother, David (Chris) of Mukwonago; his mother-in-law, Doris Schumacher
of Janesville; and seven brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mark ( B o n n i e
) Schumacher of Milton, Larry (Kathy) Schumacher of Janesville, Rita (Dan)
Sieman of Janesville, Jerry (Liz) Schumacher of Fort Wayne, Ind., Art
(Pam) Schumacher of Beloit, Kevin (Julie) Schumacher of Kansas City, Mo.,
and Mary Schumacher of Janesville. Mark is also survived by his dear
friends in the north woods and nieces, nephews and other relatives and
friends.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Elden and Pearl Petersen; and
his father-in-law, Art Schumacher.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. at the Schmidt
Funeral Home in West Bend with the Rev. David Schoob officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 2:45
p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Brooklyn Petersen Benefit c/o
Community State Bank, 1500 Main St., Union Grove, WI 53182, are
appreciated.
