Adeline Shirley Krell, 94
Shirley Krell (nee Degner), 94, of Hartford, passed away Aug. 30, 2010, at
the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford.
She was born Feb. 8, 1916, in Buffalo, N.D. to the late William and Bertha
(nee Campbell) Degner. After the death of her mother in 1926, Adeline and
her younger sister, Alice, were raised by their maternal aunt, Mercy.

married within a year of their meeting.
After their marriage, they lived with Walter’s parents for a couple of
years; this is where their first child, Jerome, was born. Then they moved
to Hartford, where Walter had purchased a milk route. In 1942, right after
the birth of their second child, daughter Dolores, they moved into their
first home on Cedar Street. Their third child, Ralph, was born in 1950. In
the 1950s they built the house that would be their home for many years.
Adeline had many jobs over her life. She helped Walter with the milk
route, sold Avon, worked at the dry cleaners and at the Hartford Nursing
Home. She was a devout member of St. Kilian Parish in Hartford and enjoyed
playing cards and bingo.
