Mary Alicia Carey, 91

Mary Alicia Carey, 91, was born to Eternal Life on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Hartford, the daughter of Edmund and Ellen (nee Flanagan) Carey. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she earned her masters’ degree in education. Mary was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Senior Friends, Washington County Retired Teachers Association and a lifetime member of St. Kilian Parish. She taught middle school at Hartford Central Middle School for 37 years and nine additional years in Washington County in the rural schools.

She is survived by her dear friends, Roy (Joyce) Bussewitz; her cousins, Joyce (Ron) Flahive of Green Bay and Mary (Bob) Lampshire of Hartford; and their children Karen Flahive, Kevin (Anne) Flahive) Kathy (Chris) Kusmich, Karlene (Jim) Lemke, Bryan (Renee) Lampshire, Melissa (Phil) Klink, Carrie (Andy) Kutz and Bobby Lampshire. Also survived by other relatives and friends.

Visitation Thursday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Kilian Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will follow at noon at the church. The Rev. David LaPlante will officiate. Interment St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery.
