Jacqueline A. Nitschke
Jacqueline A. Nitschke, 75, formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long battle with emphysema on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010.
Jackie was born the daughter of Arthur and Grace (nee Beck) Schiradelly on Jan. 9, 1935, in the town of Beaver Dam. She married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Nitschke, on Aug. 15, 1953, at St. Peterís Catholic Church in the town of Beaver Dam, and they have been blessed with 57 beautiful years of marriage.
As a young wife, Jackie enjoyed her time at home raising her children until she began her career as an Avon representative. She continued that career for 28 years, achieving annual recognition through the Avon Honors Society and membership in the Avon Presidentís Club until her retirement.
She was a lifelong member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, formerly St. Peterís Church in Beaver Dam. Jackie enjoyed camping with her family, sewing, ceramics, horseracing and an occasional "going for a drive" to the casino. She treasured decorating for the holidays to the delight of her family, and will forever be remembered for how the music of Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty could lift her spirits. Throughout her years, Jackieís favorite hobby was crocheting, her loving hands created afghans for each of her children and grandchildren.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Ralph of Beaver Dam; her four children, Vicki Strean of Oshkosh, Debra (Steve) Wilson of Cottage Grove, Tom Nitschke of Wausau and Barb (Ernie) Riesen of Beaver Dam; nine grandchildren, Heather, Holly, Heidi, Derek, Danielle, Hope, Calvin, Jesse and Ryan; eight great-grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Callia, Mya, Carter, Andrea, Austin and Jaycee; and her sister, Donna Zills of Fairwater. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, Jerry; her brother, Robert; and one sister, Pauline.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St., Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Michael J. Erwin officiating. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at St. Peterís Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
