Andrew E. Hernikl, 82
Andrew E. Hernikl, 82, of Tomahawk, passed
away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in
Tomahawk.
Andrew was born May 26, 1928, in Newburg, the son of Ignatius and
Katherine (nee Agocs) Hernikl. He married Bernice Bykowski on Jan. 1,
1950, in West Bend. She passed away on July 26, 2007.
Andy was employed with Line Material in Barton – where he met his future
wife, Bernice, and later worked for Mill Tool & Die in West Bend. He
and Bernice moved to Tomahawk in 1989. He was a member of the NRA, member
and former officer of the West Bend/ Barton Sportsmans Club, assistant
instructor of the Junior Rifle Team and was involved with the Wisconsin
Iron Brigade Civil War Reenactment Group. Andy was also a member of the
Lake Nokomis Concerned Citizens, the American Legion and St. Mary Catholic
Church, where he also was an active volunteer. He also volunteered his
time at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital and was a veteran of the U.S. Army
Air Corps.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Williamson of Elkhart Lake and Terri
Hernikl of Tomahawk; son, Kenneth Hernikl of Mercer; and sister, Katie
Dunst of California. Andy is further survived by two grandchildren, Jaime
(Cory) Kordosky of Oshkosh and Jacob Hernikl of Tomahawk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice; and son,Keith.
A memorial Mass with military rites for Andy Hernikl will be held at 11
a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, at St. Mary Catholic Church. The family will
receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of
Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
