Herbert J. Bohrer, 85

Herbert J. Bohrer, 85, of West Bend, passed away Friday April 1, 2011, at Kathy Hospice.

He was born on April 9, 1925, in Lansing, Iowa, to William F. and Nellie (nee Whalen) Bohrer.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Bert attended Notre Dame University and graduated from Marquette University in civil engineering in 1948. On Aug. 11, 1951, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Marinette, Bert married Nancy J. Lindstrum.

Prior to retiring in 1988, he was president of Herb Bohrer Fluid Power Inc.
Bert loved his “best bud,” Nancy, for over 60 years. They enjoyed many years of retirement in Naples, Fla. Family gatherings, beautiful music, warm sunshine and watching clouds on the deck were some of his favorite things.
Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Lindstrum) and dear father of Jane (Rob) Kamps, Judith (Timothy) Stellmacher, Julie Dial, William (Carrie) Bohrer, Robert (Stephanie) Bohrer and Jennifer (Jay) Stellmacher; grandfather of Katie (Ryan) Harvey, Megan (Mike) Lazansky, Keith Kamps, Becky (Carl) Ackermann, Lindsey Kamps, Chris Dial, Dana Dial, John Stellmacher, Anna (Peter) Pruefer, Haley Stellmacher, Eric Bohrer, Beth Bohrer, Heidi Bohrer, Molly Bohrer, S a m a n t h a Stellmacher and Spencer Stellmacher; and eight great-grandchildren. Further survived by sisters-in-law, Mary Wilsens and Gloria Bohrer; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Bert is preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie (Whalen) Bohrer; brother, Ralph Bohrer; granddaughter, Bailey Bohrer; brothers-in-law, Leonard Wilsens and Orval Hosch; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hosch.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday April 8, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend, with the Rev. Jeffrey Haines presiding. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, April 8, from 9:30 a.m. until mass at 11:30 a.m. Cremation to follow and interment will be at Washington County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Marquette University High School and St. Frances Cabrini Parish in West Bend.
