Gerald L. Chapman, 74

Gerald L. Chapman, 74, of West Bend, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.

He was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Port Washington to the late Everett and Martha (nee Normann) Chapman and married June M. Bell (nee Kleinhans) on June 6, 1998, at Holy Angels Catholic Church.

Gerald served in the U.S. Army for four years. Following his discharge, he worked at the Gehl Co. for 39 years and was a member of the Hexelbank Club. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, NASCAR and was a sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, June; three children, Janet (John) Ross of Oshkosh, Michael Chapman of Fort Worth, Texas, and Brenda Werbelow of Campbellsport; and four step-children, Brenda Bell of Milwaukee, Brad (Angie) Bell of West Bend, Bart (Lisa) Bell of Hartford and Bridget (Tim) Lindau of Janesville. Gerald was the proud grandpa of Justine, Brandon and Jordan Ross and Cierra and Conrad Werbelow; and step-grandfather of Jack and Madison Bell, Brady and Brett Bell and Grant and Blake Lindau. He is further survived by his brother, Ralph (Margie) Chapman of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Ralph Kleinhans of Fond du Lac; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Martha Chapman.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, April 9, at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend with the Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding. Private committal services will follow. Visitation will be Saturday at the church only from 11 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.
