Anthony W. ‘Tony’ Kirsch|
Anthony W. "Tony" Kirsch, 91, of Hartford passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend.
He was born on May 26, 1919, in St. Lawrence to Peter and Elizabeth (nee Mueller) Kirsch. Tony was united in marriage to Esther Bodden on Nov. 30, 1957, at St. Theresa Catholic Church.
Tony served his country in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during World War II, after returning from the military he joined the family-owned business as a carpenter and builder. He was also part owner of Kirsch Hardware. He was a lifelong member of the St. Lawrence community, belonging to the American Legion, St. Lawrence Fire Department and St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Tony was a dedicated and devoted volunteer for many of their fundraising events over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; his son and daughter, Anthony "Tony" Jr. of Hartford and Barbara (Kevin) Cleary of West Bend; his granddaughters, Christa and Stephanie Cleary; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Miller, Leo (Delores) Bodden, Flora Johnston, Loretta Sauer, Alice Bodden, and Al (Ann) Bodden. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Norbert (Francis), Herbert (Luella) and Clement (Edna) Kirsch; his sister, Leona (Eugene) Beine; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Pete (Helen) Bodden, Lee Miller, Dick Johnston, Bernie (Norma) Bodden, Walter Sauer and Norbert Bingen.
A Mass of Christian burial for Tony was held Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence with the Rev. Joseph Dominic officiating. Interment at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in St. Lawrence.
