Alvina Koenings, 99

Alvina Koenings (nee Schulz), 99, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Beechwood Rest Home, Kewaskum.

She was born June 25, 1911, in the town of Addison to the late Herman and Josephine (nee Benkler) Schulz. On Sept. 3, 1936, she married Sylvester J. Koenings at St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Nenno. He predeceased her on Feb. 27, 1990.

Alvina worked as a salesperson at Farmers Mercantile in Allenton for many years. In 1946, she and Sylvester moved to Richfield and together started the Richfield Plumbing, Heating and Hardware Store, with her managing and operating the hardware store, until their retirement in 1973.

Survivors include two children, Pat (Jack) Peters of Kewaskum and Robert (Pat) Koenings of Richfield; four grandchildren, Lynn Peters of Plymouth, Mark Peters of Helena, Mont., Angie (Tony) Rodeghier of Slinger and John (Jill) Koenings of Beaver Dam; three great-grandchildren, Tristan and Kali Koenings of Beaver Dam, and Anthony Rodeghier of Slinger; a sister, Elsie Riley of Hartford; and other nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Julia Gundrum, Lillian Klinger and Edna Kirsch; and twin brother, Alvin Schulz.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel Parish, 1200 St. Gabriel Way, Hubertus, with the Rev. Charles Hanel presiding. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Richfield.
