Evelyn White, 82

Evelyn L. White, 82, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Evelyn was born on Feb. 3, 1929 in Beaver Dam to Reinhard and Leona (nee Wuesthoff) Nehring. She was united in marriage to Noland White on Sept. 21, 1947. Evelyn worked at the mink farm, canning factory and egg processing factory, but most of all, she was a loving farm wife. She was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, where she was very active in the Ladies Aid Society and Retirees for 25 years. While serving in Ladies Aid, Evelyn was in charge of all the funeral luncheons and many other church functions when food was served. She also enjoyed making baby sweaters, quilts and sleeping gowns for Mission Work and baking for all the bake sales throughout the year.

Evelyn enjoyed sewing, crocheting, machine knitting, doing word searches and crossword puzzles, playing cards, gardening and canning, as well as watching birds in her birdfeeders and cooking shows on TV. She also loved the Brewers, Packers and Brett Favre. Evelyn's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life; she loved to cook meals, and always had cookies ready when they came over, played Skip-Bo with her grandchildren, and enjoyed making quilts and afghans for all of them.

Evelyn is survived by her five children, Robert (Catherine) White, Patricia (Richard) Marthaler, Donald White, Daniel (Julie) White, all of Beaver Dam and Susan (friend, Mo McAlpine) White of Onalaska; her eight grandchildren, Jason White, Therese (Chad) Henriksen, Tammy White, Barry (Julie) Marthaler, Brad (Jolie) Marthaler, Brian (Danielle) Marthaler, Jenny (Steven) Kupcho and Matthew (Ellie) White; 11 great-grandchildren, Aaliyah White, Gabriel and Ava Henriksen, Alissa Morgan, Jonathan and Dominic Marthaler, Austin Walker, Brielle Marthaler, Benjamin Kupcho, Ian White and Ethan Koopmans; sisters in-law, Connie White and Mary White both of Beaver Dam; her special friend, Pat Roedl of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Noland on March 16, 1985, her parents and other relatives.

A funeral service for Evelyn will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at noon at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 311 W. Mackie St., Beaver Dam with the Rev. Dr. Mark Molldrem and Rev. Mark Jensen officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at church, beginning at 9 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the Township of Trenton.

Memorials in Evelyn's name may be directed to First Ev. Lutheran Church.
