Edward  A. Carlson, 86

God called Edward A. Carlson home to Heaven early Saturday morning, Aug. 13, 2011, at Horizon Hospice Center/Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon.

Ed was born in Daggett, Mich., on Sept. 21, 1924, the son of Ida Carlson.
He grew up in the upper peninsula of Michigan and moved to Wisconsin in
1965. With honor and pride, he served his country during World War II in the
U.S. Army Air Force. He was united in marriage with Nancy Legvold on July
30, 1966, at Faith Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. The couple settled in town
and raised their son, Todd.

Ed worked as a machine operator for Pioneer Container, retiring in
1991 after more than 25 years of service. He was a member of the VFW in
Daggett, Mich., and American Legion Post 288, Cedarburg.  Ed loved fishing
with his buddy, Jack, especially for brookies in the spring.

He enjoyed bowling and spending time up north at the family home in Crivitz.
He was an amazing fixer of broken things, and recently had taken up
birdhouse-making.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy, and their son, Todd,
both of Cedarburg. He is further survived by his brother-in- law, Jon
(Linda) Legvold of Jonesboro, Ark., nieces, nephews and an extended family
of friends.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the
Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg. Military Honors will follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday
