Michael J. Pankau, 19

Michael J. “Mikey” Pankau, 19, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1991 in Milwaukee to John and Jayne (nee Burton) Pankau. Mike graduated from West Bend West High School in the class of 2010 and was ready to begin his second year at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He earned honors his first year at UWM and planned to join the military after graduation.

Mike had a heart of gold and was a trusting soul that everyone seemed to love. He was always there with that extra needed hug and always had a smile for everybody. His presence will truly be missed.

Mike strived to be the best at whatever he did, whether inventing delectable dishes in the kitchen, skateboarding, playing disc golf or video games. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. He also enjoyed reading and planning get-togethers with friends.

Mike had a great future planned when he was so unfairly taken from us all. His organ donation, however, has enabled life to go on.

Mike shared a very close relationship with his parents and sibling. He is survived by his father, John Pankau of West Bend; mother, Jayne Burton of West Bend; three sisters, Sara Cain of West Bend, Jennifer (Patrick) Robinson of the town of Farmington, and Melanie (Michael Banning) Pankau of Chicago; one brother, Daniel Pankau of West Bend; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service in remembrance of Mike was held at the Myrhum - Patten Funeral Home in West Bend and Mike’s cremated remains were inurned in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
