Nancy Shaw, 88
Nancy Shaw (nee Piscitello), 88, of West Bend, passed away in her home on Aug. 26. Nancy was born May 26, 1923, in Easton, Pa. to Gaetano and Rosalie Piscitello. She wed Harold W. Shaw Sr. on Feb. 10, 1945, and the couple was married for almost 57 years.
Nancy was predeceased by Harold (2001); son Terrance (1990); and her parents, brothers Sal, Anthony, Gene, and sisters Mary and Sarah.
She is survived by sons Harold W. Shaw, Jr. of West Bend and Keith B. Shaw of Chandler, Ariz.
Other surviving relatives include her four grandchildren: Michelle Shaw of Devon, Pa.; Jill Shaw of Asheville, N.C.; Christen Morris of Seattle, Wash.; and Christopher Shaw of Queen Creek, Ariz.; and sister Anna Testa and brothers Joseph and Carl Piscitello, all of Easton, Pa.
Nancy joined the U.S. Navy in 1943. Because she was under age at the time, she enlisted using the birth certificate of a cousin with the same name. As a Wave, she served proudly as a pharmacistís mate at the Brooklyn Naval Yard from 1943-1945. It was there that she met her husband. Nancy was most grateful to be part of a WWII veterans Honor Flight to Washington D.C., which was the highlight of her last year.
There will be a private graveside service for family members at Saint Killianís cemetery in Hartford.
A memorial Mass will be held at Saint Philip and James Church in Phillipsburg, N.J. at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 9.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society.
