Christa Ruhnau, 83


Christa Katharina Lieselotte Ruhnau (nee Friedrich) passed away on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 at the age of 88 years.

Christa was born on Dec. 27, 1922 in Allenstein, Germany to Albert and Katharina (nee Schubert) Friedrich. In 1945, she married Heinz Ruhnau in Germany. They moved to the United States in the 1950s.
With her husband, Heinz, the two restarted the Lapidary at Cedar Community.
Christa was a resident of Cedar Community for over 17 years.

In addition to traveling and searching for stones to make jewelry, Christa also enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo, and reading with the book club at Cedar Community.

Christa is survived by her children Kathy (Tom) Arenson, Kurt (Cyndi) Ruhnau, and Wolf (Jan) Ruhnau; grandchildren Renee (Clint) Staley, Becky (Arik) Ruhnau-Gee, Brae (Ben) Nelson, Bettina Ruhnau, Brooke (Dan) Gronitz, Jenn (Tommy) Haack, and Nick (Jessie) Ruhnau. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren Maren and Drake Staley, Samantha and Ian Ruhnau-Gee, Jacob and Caleb Nelson, and Allison Gronitz. Christa is preceded in death by her husband Heinz and parents Albert and Katharina.

A memorial service for Christa will be on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, W240 N6145 Maple Ave. in Sussex with Rev. Peter Bender presiding.

Visitation will be from 2 until 2:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at Peace Lutheran Church only.

Inurnment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
