Julia A. Malecha, 77,
A. Malecha (nee Horejsi), 77, passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011.
Julia was born on May 21, 1934 to the late John M. and Mary (nee Barta)
Horejsi in Wheatland Township, Rice County, Minn. She attended and
graduated in 1947 from Most Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School in Veseli,
In 1951, Julia graduated from New Prague High School in New Prague, Minn.
On Sept. 4, 1951, she married Ray R. Malecha at Most Holy Trinity Catholic
Church in Veseli, Minn. After marriage, they lived in Webster, Minn., for
11 years during which times they were blessed with their two sons, David
In 1962, they moved to West Bend, where Julia worked as a legal assistant
for a total of 28 years at Schloemer Law Offices in West Bend. They also
lived in Janesville for eight years where she worked as a legal assistant
during that time for the Brennan Law Firm. In retirement, she and Ray
spent five years wintering in Florida and summers in West Bend.
Julia is preceded in death by her husband Ray on Feb. 18, 1990.
Julia is survived by her two sons David (Susan) and Dale (Elizabeth);
grandchildren Jason (Tina), Shannon (J.B.) Showalter, Andrew (Jennifer),
Dale J. (Jaclyn), Katherine (Chad) Olmschenk, and Sara (Chad) Laurell;
great-grandchildren Madden and Beckham Showalter and Jackson Malecha. She
is further survived by her sisters-in-law Barbara Horejsi of Apple Valley,
Minn. and Josephine Malecha of Faribault, Minn.; brother-in-law Melvin
(Inez) Malecha of Northfield, Minn.; a very special friend Harriet Budin
of Lonsdale, Minn.; and many special and dear nieces and nephews from the
Horejsi and Malecha families. "Thank you for being so kind and
Julia is preceded in death by her sisters Anna (the late Charles) Flicek,
Martha (the late Francis) Svoboda, Alice (the late George) Pumper, and
infant sister Rita Horejsi; brothers John (the late Lonis) and Donald
Horejsi; and brother-in-law Ellard Malecha.
A Mass of Christian burial for Julia will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9,
2011 at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 406 Jefferson
St., in West Bend with Fr. John Radetski presiding. Visitation will be
from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at the Phillip Funeral Home
Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive in West Bend and will continue from
10-10:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at St. Mary’s Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow at New St. Mary’s
Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St.
Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to the staff
at Serenity Villa Assisted Living of Slinger, and the 3rd floor staff at
St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.
