Barbara A. Schmitt, 63
Barbara A. Schmitt (nee Thull), 63, passed
away on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at St. Mary’s Ozaukee after a long,
courageous battle with lung disease.
She was born in West Bend on July 13, 1948 to Theodore and Rita (nee Eder)
Thull. She graduated from West Bend High School and then attended beauty
school.
She was employed at West Bend Company and Amity Leather. She married
Joseph Schmitt at St. Frances Cabrini Parish on Nov. 27, 1971 and settled
in the Hubertus area where they began a family on their dairy farm. She
truly treasured her life as a farm wife and mother. Later, Barb worked for
Western States Envelope Company until the time of her illness. Barb
enjoyed gardening, baking, watching birds, making baskets, shopping and,
most of all, spending time with her family. Her greatest joy in life was
being a grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joe; cherished children, Deanna
Schmitt, Michele (Matthew) Kandler; beloved grandchildren, Caine, Lucas,
Jackalyn, and Raygen Kandler; sisters, Anna Thull, and Mary Schwartz;
brothers, Gerald and Anthony Thull; brothers-in-law, Leander (Viola)
Schmitt, and Jacob (Arlene) Schmitt; Godchildren, Mark, Linda, and Kelly.
She is further survived by special nieces, nephews, other relatives and
dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, several brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at 5
p.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Parish (1200 St. Gabriel Way, Hubertus, WI
53033). The visitation will be held at the church on Friday, Dec. 9 from 3
p.m. until the time of Mass at 5 p.m. Interment will take place at St.
Hubert’s Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m.
