Mary
L. Slade (nee Poock), 73, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011.
Mary was born on Dec. 15, 1937 to Alfred and Dorothy (nee DeLong) Poock,
Sr. Mary was a 1956 graduate of Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, Ohio.
She married Richard Slade on Sept. 7, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio. In West Bend,
Mary first worked for Marine Bank for almost 10 years, and then she went
on to be the owner of the Great Connections Travel Agency in West Bend
prior to her retirement. Mary especially enjoyed traveling to Europe,
including Italy and Great Britain, and a significant portion of the United
States. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband Richard; children Richard II (Sherry),
David (Susan), Brian (Lisa), and Bradley (Tracie); grandchildren Erica
(Mike) Mercandante, Richard III, Alex, Daniel, Mathew, Ashley, Taylor, and
Austin; and great-grandchildren Georgia, Giovanni, Maria, and Annabelle.
She is further survived by six siblings, three brothers-in-law, and many
other nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
A funeral service for Mary will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at
Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 323 S. Fifth Ave. in West Bend with
Rev. Jeremy Deaner presiding. Visitation will be from noon until 1:45 p.m.
at the CHURCH ONLY on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011.
An additional Memorial Service for Mary will be at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec.
19, 2011 at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, 1639 East Lytle-Five Points Road
in Centerville, Ohio. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. at the CEMETERY
ONLY on Monday, Dec. 19, 2011.
