James William Pick, 97
Dr.
James William Pick, M.D., was born in West Bend on Jan. 3, 1914, and died
Dec. 23, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth
(nee Peters), his parents, C. Edwin & Therese Pick, and his siblings
Professor John Pick, Edwin Pick, and Margaret Ann. Survived by his sister
Therese Pick and his children Dr. Peter, Charles (Brenda), Dr. James,
Ellen Marie, Thomas, Barbara, Dr. Cecilia (Dr. Stephen Krumm), William
(Patricia) Pick, two grandchildren John (Anna) Pick-Jacobs and Allison
Burke and his niece, Meg (Kim) Ipsen.
Dr. Pick was a graduate of West Bend High School, the University of Notre
Dame, and was first in his class at Northwestern School of Medicine. He
served his internship at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, and completed his
residency in urology at the Mayo Clinic. A World War II veteran, Dr. Pick
served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, 92nd Chemical Mortar
Battalion in Europe. He was active in the Chicago and Wisconsin Urological
Societies and a member of medical fraternities, Alpha Kappa Kappa and
Alpha Omega Alpha. A devout Roman Catholic, he was a member of St. Robert
Parish in Shorewood for 56 years. A celebration of his life will be held
on Thursday, Dec. 29, at St. Robert Church, Shorewood, with a visitation
from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers,
please make a gift to the charity of your choice or to Holy Angels School
in West Bend.
