Verna M. Walbrink, 87
Verna
M. Walbrink, nee Danielson, age 87, of West Bend, passed away on Friday,
Dec. 23, 2011 at her residence.
She was born on April 26, 1924 in Nome, N.D. to the late Milo and Mamie
(nee Salthammer) Danielson. On Dec. 21, 1944, she was united in marriage
to Franklin "Frank" Walbrink at First Lutheran Church in Fargo,
N.D. In 1974, they made West Bend their home.
Verna was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in West Bend and the
American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 36 Lt. Ray Dickop. She was a past
member of the Children’s Theater, West Bend Women’s Club, Musical
Masquers and the West Bend Country Club. She volunteered at Samaritan and
drove for Meal on Wheels.
Verna enjoyed playing bridge and golf; knitting, quilting, reading, and
counted cross-stitch.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Walbrink of West Bend; two children,
Mark (Carol) Walbrink of West Allis and Barbara (Nancy Porte) Walbrink of
Wauwatosa; two grandchildren, Laura (Kris) Baca of San Jose, Calif., and
Janice Walbrink of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Shirley Hanson of St.
Cloud, Minn., and Betty Heidelberg, Wilmington, Del.; nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Inez Owen.
A memorial Mass in remembrance of Verna will be held on Thursday, Jan. 5,
at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 148 S. Eighth Ave., West Bend
with the Rev. Gary Manning of Trinity Episcopal in Wauwatosa officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of
the Mass. Inurnment will follow in St. James Columbarium.
Memorials to St. James Episcopal Build a Priest Fund are greatly
appreciated.
