Edward A. German
Edward A. German of Jackson, formerly of West Bend, died on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at The Kathy Hospice at the age of 85. He was born on Oct. 28, 1926, in St. Kilian to the late Engelbert and Theresa (nee Flasch) German. As a young adult, he moved to West Bend. While a student at West Bend High School, Ed participated in various sports and activities, earning multiple letters.
In 1945, he enlisted into the United States Army. Following his discharge, he returned to the West Bend area. He then earned a degree in business.
On May 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to Mary Faber.
For more than 35 years, he was employed at Ashland Chemical. He worked as a salesman, retiring in 1988.
Ed was a member of Holy Angels Parish, Fr. Casper Rehrl Council 1964 Knight of Columbus, Loyal Order Of Moose West Bend Lodge 1398, Fred A. Schaefer Post 1393 VFW, Hon-EKor Country Club, and was a member for more than 25 years of Feetís Inn softball and bowling teams. He also was an enthusiastic golfer, playing as often as the weather permitted, and sometimes when it didnít.
Survivors include his wife; five children Kathie (Greg) Lofy of West Bend, Michael (Sherry) of Fort Meyers, Fla., Richard (friend Jane Perez) of West Bend, Mark (Lauria) of West Bend and Meg (Bob) Mucha of Germantown; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers Harold (Janette) of West Bend and James of West Bend; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Entombment will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Washington County Memorial Park. The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation at the church only on Tuesday from 4 until 5:45 p.m. Masses or memorials are appreciated.
