Ruben J. Kohlwey, 93

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 Washington St., Grafton,  with the Rev. Kenton Wendorf officiating for Ruben J. Kohlwey, of Saukville who died at Horizon Hospice located in Columbia St. Mary Ozaukee Campus on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011. He was 93 years old. Cake and coffee will follow the service.

Ruben was born in Cedarburg on Tuesday, April 17, 1917, the son of George and Anna (nee Behrens) Kohlwey. Ruben was one of 10 children. Ruben was a dairy farmer all of his life. He farmed in Cedarburg until 1960 and then moved to Saukville to purchase his own dairy farm. Ruben saw changes in farming like hauling hay with the horses to hauling hay with tractor power.
Ruben married Evelyn A. Frank on Feb. 14, 1942 and were blessed with four children. Ruben was a life-time parishioner of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton. Ruben loved vacationing in Winter Haven, Florida and was hoping to go back and visit.

Ruben is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of 68 years; sons, Dean (Martha), James (Trudel), David (Deb) and Neil Kohlwey, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Anita Eulert, Florence (the late Gerald) Rathke and Renata (Kenneth) Rappold; sisters-in-law, Lillian Kohlwey and Shirley Kohlwey; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter, Benoit and George; and sisters; Georgiana Rettmann, Esther Koeller and Eleonora Dobberfuhl.
