John Wesley Chitwood, 88
John Wesley Chitwood, 88, of Slinger passed away Tuesday Feb. 8, 2011 at Cedar Community. John was born on July 23, 1922 in Richland County, Wis. to Delos and Ruth (nee Brown) Chitwood. John graduated from UW-Platteville with a bachelorís degree in agriculture.
On June 30, 1951 John married Norma Jean Harris in Milwaukee. He was a school teacher at Granton High School from 1946 to 1949 and at Slinger High School from 1949 to 1979 teaching agriculture and science. John was also a member of Fifth Ave. Methodist Church in West Bend.
John is survived by his wife Norma; six sons: Robert of Slinger, Gary (Kathy) of Lomira, James (Jacqui) of West Bend, Dan of Slinger, Steve of Slinger, and Gregory (Judy) of San Angelo, Texas; Katherine Fehring; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Gene (Rosemary) of Richland County, Wis.; and other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
A memorial service for John will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at Fifth Ave. Methodist Church, 323 S. 5th Ave. in West Bend with the Rev. Wes Falk presiding. Gathering will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the church only on Friday, Feb. 18. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and will be donated in John's name to Cedar Community.
