Victor A. Del Ponte, 90

Victor A. Del Ponte, 90, of Campbellsport, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. He was born on March 8, 1920, the son of the late Battiste and Appolonia (nee Dalle Nogare) Del Ponte. On Jan. 26, 1952, he married Dolores C. Schoofs at Sacred Heart Church in St. Francis.

Vic farmed for a short time and then in 1938 he began building milk houses, a business which developed into Del Ponte Masonry which in still operated by the family. Victor was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, his flower gardens and watching birds.

Survivors include his sons, Jeff (Lil) and Rick (Cheryl), all of Campbellsport; his daughters, Cathy (Mark) Fowler of Seaford, Va., Mary (Dennis) Goebel of Dotyville and Barb (Jay) Braun of Eden; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brother, Melvin (Rose Ann) of Campbellsport; his sister, Anna Guse of Fond du Lac; his brother-in-law, Fran (Debbie) Schoofs of Waterford; his sister-in-law, Eunice Schoofs of Oak Creek; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores on March 23, 2004; four sisters, Mary, Caroline, Erna and Nella; and four brothers, Battiste Jr., Peter, Tranquillo and Dante.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 3 p.m. until time of Mass at the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Campbellsport.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. The Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and entombment will be Thursday at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Matthew’s Church or Hospice Hope.
