John J. Bodden Sr., 90
John
J. Bodden Sr., 90, of Theresa, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at
Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira.
He was born on July 19, 1920, in Theresa, the son
of the late Hubert and Anna (nee Buhr) Bodden. He attended the Good Road
School south of Theresa, a school close to the family farm, and he
graduated from St. Theresa’s School. He attended two years of high
school at the State Grade School in Theresa. On May 9, 1942, he was united
in marriage to Evelyn Krieser at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa.
Evelyn preceded John in death on Aug. 14, 2005.
John was a Dodge County Supervisor for nearly 12 years, a member of the
Dodge County Housing Authority for 27 years, a member of St. Theresa
Catholic Church in Theresa, the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Theresa
Historical Society, a charter member of the Theresa Lions Club and an
honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. John was a life-long farmer
and continued to help out his son, Todd, for many years. He was very
involved in village events and was named "Man of the Year" in
recognition of his involvement.
Those John leaves behind to cherish his memory include seven children,
Russell (Betty) Bodden of Theresa, John "Jack" Bodden Jr. of
Tomah, Dennis (Mary Jo) Bodden of Shorewood, Peggy (Dennis) Proeber of
West Bend Curtis (Patty) Bodden of Algonquin, Ill., Todd (Mary Alice)
Bodden and Tony (Karen) Bodden, both of Theresa; a sister, Clara Schaefer
of Juneau; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, other relatives
and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by three
brothers, five sisters and other relatives.
A Mass of Christian burial for John will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan.
8, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa. The Rev. Dennis Budka will
officiate and burial will follow in St. Theresa Memorial Gardens in
Theresa. Relatives and friends may call on Friday at the Kietzer-Miller
Funeral Home in Lomira from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and at the church on
Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass.
