E. Machacek, 93
Genevieve “Gen” E. Machacek (nee Holland), 93, passed away Thursday,
Jan. 20, 2011 at Cedar Community in West Bend.
Genevieve was born Feb. 19, 1917 to Cornelius and Mary (nee Sennott)
Holland in Pewaukee. She graduated in 1934 from Pewaukee High School and
became a candy striper at St. Joseph's Hospital in Milwaukee. She
married Edward Machacek on Feb. 18, 1939 at St. Leo's Catholic Church in
Milwaukee. They resided in the Milwaukee area until they moved to
Slinger in 1950. Thereafter, Gen began a career as a telephone operator
and later a service representative for GTE. After retirement, Gen
volunteered as a pink lady at Hartford Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed
volunteering for St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a member of the
Christian Mothers. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and
spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Genevieve is survived by two sons, Edward (Joanne) of Seymour, John
(Cathy) of Slinger, one son-in-law, Robert Mushinski of Wild Rose, and a
brother-in-law, Fred Frauenfelder. She is further survived by eight
grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two nieces, other relatives and
friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward,
daughter, Suzanne, granddaughter, Amy, and sister, Mary Frauenfelder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24 at St.
Peter's Catholic Church (208 East Washington in Slinger) with the Rev.
Richard Stoffel presiding. Visitation with family and friends will be
from 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24 until the time of Mass.
Interment will follow mass at the New St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in
Slinger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Community, St.
Peter's Catholic Church or to a charity of your choice.
A special “Thank You” to the staff at Cedar Community for the tender
