Gene C. Petersen, 79

Gene C. Petersen, 79, of Aniwa, formerly of Campbellsport, passed away on Friday Jan. 21, 2011, at LeRoyer Hospice in Antigo.

He was born in Waupaca County on Dec. 17, 1931, the son of the late Alfred and Marian Gray Petersen. Gene served in the U.S. Army National Guard for a number of years. Gene worked at Regalware for a short time and then at Meyer Ford in Campbellsport for 34 years until retiring. In retirement Gene worked part-time at Tomís Quality Millwork and at Nichols Five Star Charters. After moving to Aniwa nine years ago, he worked for Fleischman Potato Farm. Gene loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a John Wayne fan, a Packer fan and a great story and joke teller. Gene had a special appreciation and dedication to his family, all of whom he loved very much.

Survivors include his children, Barbara (Rick) Heisler, Jim (Lois) Petersen, Joe (Linda) Petersen, Bev (Randy) Kreif, all of Campbellsport, and Bonnie (Russell) Niemuth of Kewaskum; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; his special friend, Barb Thelen of Aniwa; his brother, Duane (Georgia) Petersen of Campbellsport; his former wife, Joan Petersen of Campbellsport; nieces; nephews; other relatives; friends; and his faithful companion, Misty.

He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Twohig Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St., Campbellsport. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
