Hilda A. Veit, 90


Hilda A. Veit (nee Gerrits), 90, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011.

Hilda was born on Oct. 23, 1920 in Hollandtown, Wis. She was the third eldest child born to Theodore and Patronella “Nellie” (nee Van Vreede) Gerrits. She graduated from high school in 1938 and went to work for St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan as an aide. She eventually moved to the surgical floor and later took a clerical job with Anchor Transfer Company. As the years went by, she was an assistant medical records administrator at St. Michael's Hospital for 19 years. Hilda loved gardening, canning, crocheting, and making crafts. She enjoyed taking walks in the fall with her grandchildren and spending time with them at their lake home. Hilda was incredibly selfless and was always looking to help others in need. She was a member of the Ladies VFW Post Auxiliary in Sheboygan.

Hilda is survived by her six grandchildren Stephanie (Tom Crandell) Boudry of West Bend, Lanae (Paul) Kovacevich of Allenton, Tim Landon, Julie (Dan) Fellenz, and Tom Landon all of West Bend, and Carrie Grinsteiner (Chad) of Stephenson; great-grandchildren Adam (Brittany) Boudry, Trista (Travis Bennett) Boudry, Breanna Boudry, Joshua, Mikaela, Caleb, and Carissa Kovacevich, Samantha and Kimberly Landon, Danny, Cassandra, and Promise Fellenz, Destany Erickson; great-great-grandson Noah Boudry, and another soon-arriving great-great-grandchild. She is further survived by her sisters Evelyn Keller of Kimberly, Wis., Bernice Leonhard of Sheboygan; brother Donald (Edith) Gerrits of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law Al Slater of Port Washington, and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Hilda is preceded in death by her husband Clarence A. Veit, daughter Diana E. Landon, granddaughter Kimberly Landon, and her parents.

A funeral service for Hilda will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel in West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home only from 4 p.m. until time of service on Monday, Jan. 31. Final place of rest will be at the Garden of Peace Mausoleum in the Town of Sheboygan.
