Kopf, 83, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011.
Georg was born on Oct. 15, 1927, in Sotin, Yugoslavia to Albert and Eva
(nee Schrodi) Kopf. He was born and raised in Yugoslavia (now Croatia)
until the age of 17 when he moved to Austria. Georg met Theresia Scherzl
in Austria and they married on July 9, 1949. They then moved to Brazil in
1951 where they lived for 17 years before moving to Milwaukee in 1968.
He began his career at Falk Corp. and later retired from Rexnord after
seven years.
Georg loved playing sheepshead, watching soccer, gardening and spending
time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Schwabenhof Senior
Citizens and the Milwaukee Sport Club.
Georg is survived by his wife Theresia; children Hildegard (Steve) Kopf-Brown
and George, Jr. (Tracy) Kopf; grandchildren Stacey (fiancé Russell
Beistle) Gulley, Megan Kopf, and Ryan Kopf; and great-grandchildren
Layla and Levi Beistle. He is further survived by his sister Berta (Anton)
Egles; brother-in-law Johann (Loni) Sercl; sister-in-law Katharina
Schedlbauer; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews in Brazil,
Austria, and Germany.
Georg is preceded in death by his parents, brother Josef (Maria) Kopf.
A funeral service for Georg will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at
the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Dr. in West Bend with
Fr. Kevin Kowalske presiding.
Visitation will be at the funeral home only on Sunday, July 10, 2011, from
4:30 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Trinity
Catholic Cemetery in Newburg.
