Lawrence ‘Larry’ Stecker, 63 Lawrence "Larry" Stecker, 63, of St. Germain, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 10, 2011, by accidental drowning. A memorial Mass was held Friday, July 15, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sayner. He was born on Feb. 19, 1948, in Cedarburg, the son of Gerritt and Gladys (nee Bernau) Stecker. Larry was raised and attended schools in Cedarburg, where he graduated high school in 1966. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served, for three years, during the Vietnam War. In June of 1974, Larry married Karen Weber in Woodruff. They resided in Cedarburg, where he served his apprenticeship and became a journeyman carpenter. In 1977, they moved to St. Germain, where Larry has been self- employed as a carpenter creating beautiful homes and other structures. Larry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both duck and deer hunting. He also enjoyed playing softball and trapshooting. He particularly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member and usher at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sayner. Larry is survived by his wife, Karen of St. Germain; son, Ben, of St. Germain; daughter, Abbey (Luke) Maillette, of Eagle River; mother, Gladys Bernau; brothers, David Stecker and Jim (Teri) Stecker; sisters, Ellyn (Peter) Stecker-Smith, Elaine (Joe) Stecker- Kochanski, Mary Williams, Kathy Stecker and Carole (Mike Pfotenauer) Stecker; grandchildren, Autumn Stecker and Taylor and Lexi Maillette; and many other relatives and friends. Memorials can go to the family, which is planning a future permanent memorial or to a charity of your choice. |
