Matthias J. Metz, 72 Matthias J. Metz Jr. of Fairfield Street in Cedarburg passed away  Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Horizon Hospice in Mequon. He was 72 years  old. Matt was born in the town of Mequon on Feb. 26, 1939, the son of  Matthias W. Metz and Hildegarde Weiss Metz. After his schooling, he  served his country in the U.S. Army.  On Aug. 27, 1960, he was united  in marriage with Karen Kritz in West Bend. Matt drove a truck, most recently for Crouse Cartage.  He retired in  2004. Matt was an avid hunter and a passionate angler. He also  enjoyed watching NASCAR races.  He is survived by his wife of almost  51 years, Karen; and their five children, Matt (Denise) Metz of Port  Washington, Crescent (David) Kaemmer of Germantown, DeeAnne (Todd)  Henning of Minneapolis, Amy Lowe of West Bend and Nicole Metz, also  of Minneapolis. He is further survived by his mother, Hildegarde Metz  of West Bend; six grandchildren, Melynda, Joshua, Jeremy, Noah,  Danielle and Jared; two sisters and one brother. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and his beloved  brother-in-law. Private family services were held. Memorials are suggested to Fishing For Life at www.fishingforlife.org.
