Karyn Lynn Solochek, 47

Karyn Lynn Solochek (nee Gerbitz), age 47, of Jacksonville, Fla. passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1963, in Milwaukee to Eugene and Carol Gerbitz. Karyn was raised in West Bend and graduated from West Bend East High School in the class of 1982. She went on to sing and travel with Joy, Inc. and Lutheran Youth Encounter after she graduated from high school. She then married and motherhood became her main focus.

In recent years, Karyn was an advocate for those who had suffered identity fraud and was anticipating graduation from a medical assistant program. Karyn sang and played 12-string acoustic guitar, loved crochet and photography.

Karyn is survived by her husband Jeffrey Solochek, two sons Micah Solochek and Jacob Solochek, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; her father Eugene Gerbitz of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one brother, Karl Gerbitz of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two sisters, Amy Rowland of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jennifer (Andrew) Arvan of Jackson; two nephews Nathan Chamblee of Savannah, Ga., and Christopher Shaneyfelt of Jacksonville, Fla.; three cousins, Debra Ellison of Clare, Mich., Alan Gerbitz of Batavia, Ill., and Richard Gerbitz of Gunnison, Colo. Other family and friends survive her.

Karyn was preceded in death by her mother Carol Gerbitz and nephew Perry Snyder.

A graveside gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Cemetery in Milwaukee. A small service will be performed at the cemetery.

In the event of rain, family and friends will be directed to the Valhalla Chapel on the cemetery grounds.
