Carol J. Rettmann, 73

Carol J. Rettmann, 73, of Adell, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.

She was born on March 30, 1938, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late August H. and Edna L. (nee Borchardt) Stark, and grew up on a farm in the town of Saukville.

Carol journeyed down life’s path filled with animals of all kinds before and after she became a proud mother. Carol was a member of the Wisconsin State and National Constables Associations, the Washington County Red Cross, the Wisconsin Hooved Animal Humane Society and the Wasaukee Horsemen Inc. She attended many conferences and seminars relating to law enforcement and animal welfare. Carol had an avid concern for the treatment and welfare of animals.

Those Carol leaves behind to cherish her memory include five children, Kim Marie (Siegfried) Schnappup of Crandon, William J. (Debra) Rettmann of Kewaskum, Benjamin D. (Chelli) Rettmann of Jackson, Robert D. (Jennifer) Rettmann of Horicon and Brian D. (Marialyce) Rettmann of Washington D.C.; two brothers, August H. Stark Jr. and Alan R. Stark; a sister, Maybelle Kolbach; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

A private memorial service for Carol will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Red Cross, the Wisconsin Hooved Animal Humane Society or the Wasaukee Horsemen Inc. are appreciated.
