Dorothy M. Gordon

Dorothy M. Gordon, 83, of Hartford, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011.

She was born Feb. 12, 1928, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Robert and Alice (nee Mallard) Sutton. Dorothy married Douglas Gordon on March 2, 1957, at Wesley Methodist Church in Milwaukee.

They moved to the town of Erin in 1958 and became members of the First United Methodist Church of Hartford. Dorothy was active in the Sunday School and Women’s Circle. Her life was centered on her children and grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, sewing and selling at the farmer’s market. She was an animal lover and compassionate about their care. Dorothy was also a member of Hartford Senior Friends.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Douglas; her children, Susan Gordon of New Jersey, Sandra Gordon of Madison, Sharon (William Wood) Gordon of Fond du Lac and David (Vesna Madunic) Gordon of Milwaukee; her grandchildren, Isabella, Ava, Luka and Noah; and her sister, Charlotte Bigelow of Cedarburg. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Clarence and John; her three sisters, Alice, Phyllis and Virginia; and some nieces and nephews.

Family will receive relatives and friends Monday, June 6, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hartford, 738 W. Monroe St. Memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. The Rev. Brian Kundinger will officiate.

Memorials to First United Methodist Church or Hartford Senior Friends in Dorothy’s name would be appreciated.
