Emmett J. Burg, 84, of Hartford, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond Du Lac.
Born on Oct. 17, 1926, in the township of Erin, he was the son of the late Phillip and Anna Burg. He graduated from Hartford Union High School class of 1944. He served his country as midshipman in the Merchant Marines and Navy (Seabees) as a cook and electricianís mate from 1945 to 1946 receiving a Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. He married Rosemary Boos on Aug. 22, 1953 in Erin. He was a self-employed egg farmer and also worked for Husco Manufacturing, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Monches.
His hobbies included raising cattle, donkeys, tinkering with cars, and most of all spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for baseball and softball, attending hundreds of his kidsí and grandkidsí games through the years, especially as a Rubicon Red Sox fan. He loved all things Irish, especially St. Patrickís Day and Irish music.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary of Hartford; seven sons, Tim (Dianne) of Erin, Ron (LiAnn) of Hartford, Jerry (Kathy) of Menomonee Falls, Dennis of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bruce (Luanne) of Colgate, Shawn (Kris) of Slinger, David (Tanya) of Rubicon; daughters, Diane (Patrick) Burg-Braun of Fond du Lac, Linda (Mike) Sylvester of Slinger, Roseanne (Bruce) Mergener of Crivitz; grandchildren, Joe and Haley Sylvester, Marcus, Michael, Mitchel, and Mason Mergener, Jessica, Amy, & Jimmy Burg, Erica, Clayton, and Chantel Burg, Tyler and Calvin Burg, Abigail, Joshua, and Hannah Burg, Ryan, Allison, and Austin Burg, Amanda and Ashley Burg, Brock, Briel, Brenna Rose, and Braycen Burg. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Loreen and Carol Anne, and an infant son, Gerard.
Services were held and Emmett was buried at St. Johnís Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank all those who sent thought, prayers, and other memorials.
