Roger F. Schroeder, 91

Sunrise for Roger F. Schroeder, 91, of West Bend. was Dec. 3, 1919 in the village of Barton. Sunset was on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Samaritan Health Care Center.

Roger was born to the late George and Theckla (nee Reuter) Schroeder. He married Florence Conliff in 1941, at St. Mary's Church in the village of Barton. Roger lived in Barton (West Bend) all his life until the time of his death except from 1942 to 1945 when served in the U.S. Army WWII in the European Theater and was a life member of VFW Post 1393. After the war, Roger worked in Milwaukee for a few years, then he worked for Line Material (Bermeco) until the time of his retirement. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoes, and when he was 69-years-old, he took up golf, which he enjoyed for many years.

Roger is survived by his son, Irv (Theresa “Terri”) Schroeder; granddaughter, Brenda (Shaun) Sagunsky, great-grandchildren, Christopher and Mystic Schroeter; and one sister-in-law, Gwyn (Bill) Barber. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence in 1982, and a sister, Genevieve “Gen” May.

The memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 14 at 6 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Barton, 406 Jefferson St., with the Rev. Jerome Repenshek presiding. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14 from 4 p.m. until the time of Mass at 6 p.m. Interment will take place at the new St. Mary's Cemetery.
