Eileen Joann Yahr|
Eileen Joann Yahr (nee Frank) passed away on the evening of June 14, 2011, with her family around her.
She was born in Jackson to Leona (nee Frank) and William Frank on March 31, 1936. She graduated from high school in 1954. She met Richard Yahr at the Barton Picnic and after a courtship of six months he asked for her hand in marriage. The wedding took place on Dec. 3, 1955.
During their 55 years of marriage they had four children, Greg, Steve (Jean), Tim and Rick (Michele). Eileen has been richly blessed with eight grandchildren, Sherry (Mike) Nygaard, Jason Yahr, Brandon (Kari) Yahr, Eric (Kelsey) Yahr, Stephanie (fiancé, Matt) Yahr, Garrett Yahr, Joshua Yahr and Ethan Yahr. Completing the family are five great-grandchildren, Taylor Rahlf, Paige and Sawyer Nygaard and Hailyn and Phenix Yahr.
Eileen and Rich were married in Christ Lutheran Church, Jackson, where Eileen was also baptized and confirmed. She worked at the West Bend Telephone Co., St. Joseph’s Community Hospital and, for 25 years until retirement, at the school district in West Bend.
After their retirement, Rich and Eileen followed their dream of living in the beautiful north woods of Wisconsin. They moved to Shay Lake in Pound, where they enjoyed 14 wonderful years of fishing and relaxation.
Eileen enjoyed volunteering at the Woodland Village Nursing Home in Suring and was very active at Out Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, participating on committees and the church council. Eileen served as the treasurer for the women’s organization for 11 years and was a member of the choir.
Eileen remained positive throughout her illness and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was thankful for her wonderful husband who was there every step of the way. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure to know her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday June 18, at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church, Highway M, Suring, from 10 a.m. until funeral service at noon with Revs. Tina and Kevin Scheuller officiating.
