LaVerne E. McGurty, 95

A funeral mass was held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church, in Cedarburg, for LaVerne E. McGurty, who passed away on June 15, 2011, at the age of 95. Father Tom Eichenberger officiated the funeral Mass. Interment took place at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.

LaVerne was born on Oct. 12, 1915, in Milwaukee, to Rudolph Schwerm and Katherine (nee Courtney) Schwerm, who preceded her in death. She went on to graduate from Rufus King High School and was united in marriage to Arthur McGurty on Sept. 30, 1939, in Milwaukee. Their marriage was blessed with six children. LaVerne worked for the U.S.

Postal Service for many years and retired at the age of 70. LaVerne is survived by her children, Kathleen (David) Peot, Mary Ellen (James) Ryan, Thomas (Abby) McGurty, Daniel (Jeanette) McGurty and Patricia (Jeffrey) Vahsholtz; grandchildren, Lori (Drew) Hummel, Julie (Butch) Poole, Sherri (Wes) Sharp, Timothy (Selvi) Peot, David Peot, Courtney (Rich) Pierce, Amy (Rob) Kadner, Laura (Dave) Chimento, Michael (Stephanie) Ryan, Katie (Aaron) Mishkin, Erich Mussak, Erin McGurty, Brian Vahsholtz, Brett Vahsholtz and Tyler Vahsholtz; great-grandchildren, Seth, Caitlyn, Kylie, Bailey, Malia, Gillian, Devi, Alexa, Taylor, Victoria, James, Alice, Madeline, Anna, Julia, Amelia and Thomas; siblings, Charles (Virginia) Schwerm and Therese (William) Haueser; and devoted and special friend, Janet Rich. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; and son, Timothy McGurty.
