Gene Donald Hagenow, 67, passed away on
Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
Gene was born on Oct. 11, 1943, in Manitowoc to Ludwig and Dorothy (nee
Deprey) Hagenow. He was born and raised in the Mishicot area. After high
school he married Mary Ann (nee Haupt) on Aug. 15, 1964, and began his
family in Sheboygan. Gene also served in the U.S. Army. Upon returning
home, he was the owner/operator of grocery stores in Sheboygan and the
Piggly Wiggly store in Menomonee Falls. After Mary Ann passed away in
2000, he married Marlene (nee Butzke) on April 17, 2004, at David’s Star
Evangelical Lutheran Church and lived in Jackson. Gene enjoyed traveling,
working in the yard, spending time with his family – especially his
grandchildren.
Gene is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons, Brian (Jaclyn) of Sussex and
Todd (Amy) of West Bend; stepdaughters, Deborah (Kevin) Liesener of
Cedarburg and Cari (Dale) Behm of Cedarburg; step-son, Daniel Butzke of
Jackson; grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha, Natalie, Landon and Blake;
eight step-grandchildren and a step-great-granddaughter; brothers, Richard
of Green Bay, Dennis (Judy) of Two Rivers, Wayne (Roxanne) of Green Bay
and Lee (Jody) of Manitowoc. He is further survived by his brothers and
sisters-in-law.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Bobby; wife,
Mary Ann; and son, Jeffrey.
A funeral service for Gene will be at 7
p.m. on Friday, June 24, at Davids Star Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2750
David’s Star Dr., Jackson. Interment will take place at Washington
County Memorial Park on Saturday, June 25 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at
the church only on Friday, June 24, from 4 p.m. until time of service.
