Barbara A. Kuopus, 57

Barbara A. Kuopus, 57, took her last breath in the early hours of Monday, June 13, 2011, with her family at her side, after 15 years and three separate bouts with breast cancer.

Her final days were spent in comfort, both at home in Mequon and at Horizon Hospiceís St. Maryís Ozaukee campus, where she spent five of her nursing years in oncology and hospice.

Born on Jan. 15, 1954, to Gilbert and Elaine Boldt, Barb was the fourth of five daughters. She attended Brookfield East High School, and held jobs in the medical field before attending MATC and finding her calling as a professional caregiver.

Barb was compassionate, encouraging, considerate and loving. She enjoyed being with her family and zoo of household animals, reading, watching movies and cooking. As a nurse, she created special bonds with everyone, from co-workers to the families of those she gave care to. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Barb joins her parents and oldest sister, Cheryl Sholts, leaving behind daughters, Anjela, Allison and Amanda; grandchildren, Noah and Mya; sisters, Dayle Paasch, Janice (Curtis) Eilbes and Heide Boldt; former husband, Mark; nieces and nephews, beloved pets and countless friends.

A private service will be held at Barbís home for family and close friends at a later date.
