Edward Klinger
Edward Klinger of Manitowish Waters passed away June 23, 2011 one day
prior to the 61st wedding anniversary to Carol.
Ed was born in Mosinee on July 17, 1927 to John and Anna (nee Franz)
Klinger.
At 17 he joined the U.S. Navy. After returning from service, he earned a
bachelor’s degree from Central State Teachers College (now University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point). He taught math in Unity, Edgar and for 34 years
in West Bend. He was a lifetime member of the NEA and WEA and received a
master’s degree from UW-Madison.
Ed retired in 1988 and moved to Manitowish Waters where he was a volunteer
at the library, food pantry and an election official. He was also a member
of the American Legion and active in the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank, Lawrence and
Sigmund and sister, Josephine.
Ed is survived by his wife, Carol, sons: William (Sheila), Dean (Mary),
Brian (Sylvia) and John (Kelly) and nine grandchildren. He is further
survived by sisters Elizabeth and Bernice and brother Bernard, sister in-laws,
Joan Vande Zande and Jean Teska, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ed loved watching his children and grandchildren in their sports. He
enjoyed fishing, bridge, and traveling.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at the Rock of Ages
Lutheran Church in Minocqua with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of
service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Diabetes Foundation, American Heart
Association, and the Rock of Ages Lutheran Church are appreciated.
