Marie A. Schaefer (nee Pamperin), 79, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011.

Marie was born on Dec. 15, 1931, in the town of Wayne to John and Freida (nee Kurth) Pamperin. She married Allen E. Schaefer on Oct. 1, 1955, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Allenton. She enjoyed gardening, bowling and playing sheepshead. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Marie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Allen "Al" Schaefer; children, Sharon (John) Murphy, Dennis (Bea) Schaefer, Carol Erickson and Nancy (Scott Gibb) Schaefer; grandchildren, Casey and Megan Murphy, Daniel Schaefer, Jessica (Tom) Brockway, Kaytlyn and Cheyenne Waldschmidt; and great-grandson, Ayden James Brockway. She is further survived by her sister, Margaret Neilson; brothers, Raymond (Marlene) Pamperin and Kurt (Karen) Pamperin; sisters-in-law, Ellen Pamperin, Sandra Pamperin and Earla Brantner; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

Marie is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jamie Murphy; parents, John and Freida Pamperin; in-laws, Elmer C. and Ella M. (nee Roehrdanz) Schaefer; brothers, John Pamperin and Walter Pamperin; brothers-in-law, Ivan Neilson and Jim Brantner; and sister-in-law, Mildred (Leo) Schwartz and Myrtle (Art) Duenkel.

A funeral service for Marie will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 11, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6430 Highway D in Allenton with the Rev. Steven Bode presiding. Visitation will be at the church only on Friday, March 11, from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Interment will take place at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
