"Terry" Joseph Surprenant, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded
by his family at his home in Belgium, on Monday, May 9, 2011.
Terry was born April 6, 1939, in Kankakee, Ill., to Joseph and Lois (nee
Meyers) Surprenant. He graduated from Bishop McNamara Catholic High School
in Kankakee in 1957 and attended Southern Illinois University.
Terry worked for 38 years at Hentzen Chemical Coatings in Milwaukee and
retired as Hentzen’s vice president of sales and marketing in 2005. He
traveled extensively during his career, including trips to Israel, Turkey,
Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico, Canada, South Korea and Japan.
A long-time resident of West Bend, Terry helped create a youth baseball
program with the West Bend Jaycees and coached teams at minor league,
Little League and Senior League levels. He also spent many years as
treasurer and member of the West Bend School Board and served as president
of the West Bend Jaycees.
Terry was an avid athlete and sports fan. He enjoyed gambling and horse
racing and cheered for the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee
Brewers and Wisconsin college teams.
He is survived by Patricia, his best friend and loving wife of 46 years.
Loving father of Tammy (Del) Madsen of Madison, Teri (Dan) Pansing of
Lewisville, Texas, Todd (Michelle) Surprenant of Kewaskum, and Trista
(Kevin) Mayer of West Bend. Doting grandfather to Kyle, Emily, Jordan,
Cole, Anna and Miles. Terry also is survived by sisters, Sharon (Art)
Kingery Zasada and Linda (Louis) Larson; nieces; nephews; relatives and
friends.
Besides his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brother, Roger.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, leaving the funeral home
at 1:30 p.m. and going to St. Mary Catholic Church, 6092 Lake Church Road,
Lake Church, for Mass at 2 p.m. The Rev. Guy Gurath will officiate. The
family will receive visitors at Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave.,
Belgium Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
