Beatrice ‘Beats’ Manthei, 81

Beatrice R. "Beats" Manthei, 81, of Kewaskum, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.

She was born during threshing time on Aug. 9, 1929, in Campbellsport, the daughter of the late Leo and Agnes (nee Serwe) Kaehne, and on July 2, 1949, she was united in marriage to Lyle Manthei at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. Following their marriage, Lyle and Beatrice made their home in Kewaskum. Lyle preceded Beatrice in death on October 1, 2005.

Beatrice was employed by Regal Ware Inc. in Kewaskum and later was employed in food service at Kewaskum High School for more than 20 years, a job she truly loved. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.

Beatrice loved flowers and especially her girls and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.

Those Beatrice leaves behind to cherish her memory include two daughters, Bonnie Connors of Mukwonago and Carol (Steven) Hart of Allenton; five grandchildren, Dustin, Jackie and Daniel Connors, Lindsay and Nicole Hart; two brothers, Bob (Arlene) Kaehne of West Bend and Bern (Linda) Kaehne of Kewaskum; two sisters, Margaret (Butch) Giese of Kewaskum and Delores "Floss" Kahut of Campbellsport; dear friends, Eileen "Shorty" Schmidt, Gertie Backus and Marilyn Theusch, all of Kewaskum; special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Herriges; a brother, Norman Kaehne; and a brother-in-law, Art Kahut.

A Mass of Christian burial for Beatrice will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. The Rev. Edwin Kornath will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Friday at the church from noon until the time of Mass.
