Evelyn D. Buechs (nee Block), 88, of West Allis, formerly of West Bend, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Ruth Hospice in West Allis.

She was born on Nov. 27, 1922, in Milwaukee to the late Albert and Helen (nee Ziebell) Block. On Sept. 28, 1946, Evelyn was united in marriage to Roland Buechs. Roland preceded her in death on May 30, 1999.

Evelyn worked in the office at the Wisconsin Telephone Company until she retired in 1978. In 1994, she moved from Milwaukee to Cedar Ridge in West Bend. In 1999, she moved to West Allis.

She is survived by nephews, Terry (Linda Hermann) Zastrow of Oak Creek and Lane (Suzanne) Zastrow of Brentwood, Tenn.; brothers-in-law, Charles (Veryl) Buechs of Milwaukee and Lester Buechs of Jackson; great-nieces, Tracey (Brian) Scheffler, Gina Zastrow, Kim Zastrow and Jill (Micah) Parrish; friends, Bernaice Modrick of West Allis and Marie Sezon of Brookfield; great-great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Myrtle Zastrow; sister-in-law, Muriel Batman; brother-in-law, Norman Zastrow; and a niece, Nancy Zastrow.

Funeral services in remembrance of Evelyn will be held on Saturday, May 14, at noon at Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. The Rev. Jennifer Carlson of Mount Hope Lutheran Church in West Allis will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will follow the service in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. A memorial service will also be held in the chapel at The Village at Manor Park in West Allis at a later date.
