Louise M. Kieferndorf, 94, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011.
Louise was born on May 11, 1917, to George and Bertha (nee Lawrenz). She attended Riverside High School and Valparaiso University. She taught high school in both Chicago and Belgium. Louise also worked at the Washington County Courthouse and the Milwaukee County Courthouse including many years in the Veteran Service Office. Since 1930, Louise enjoyed swimming and entertaining family and friends at her cottage on Big Cedar Lake. Louise was a 56-year member of Pilgrim Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, teaching Sunday school and acting as the Sunday school and church librarian. She was also an avid member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
Louise is survived by her cousin, Herb (Kay) Kieferndorf; and cousins-inlaw, Pauline Kieferndorf and Florence Mayer. She is special "aunt" to Paula Kieferndorf (Dale Raab) and Carla (Dave) Krueger of Milwaukee and Frederick (Jenny) Kieferndorf of Fislisbach, Switzerland; special "great-aunt" to Emily and Robby Krueger and Max and Ben Kieferndorf. She is further survived by niece, Kristina (Stephen) Stewart; and grandnephews, Andrew and Alex of Springfield, Mo.; other relatives, and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, George and Frederick Kieferndorf.
A memorial service for Louise will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, at Luther Haven Retirement Community, 8949 N. 97th St., Milwaukee, WI 53224. Gathering will be at Luther Haven only on Thursday, May 19, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment will take place at Glen Oaks Cemetery in Milwaukee.
