A. John Donald, 89 A. John Donald of Fredonia passed away Saturday morning, May 14, 2011, at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake. He was 89 years old. John was born July 25, 1921, in Wetonka, S.D., the son of Ira Donald and Eulalie Eubank. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II, where he was stationed in the South Pacific. After the war, he purchased jewelry stores in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Fla. He was an accomplished watch maker, hand engraver, jewelry designer and gemologist. On Sept. 5, 1952, he was united in marriage with Barbara Weeks in Tampa, Fla. He enjoyed woodworking with walnut, good conversation and a good joke. John is survived by his wife, Barbara; and their children, John William (Jane) Donald of Fredonia and Dawn (Paul) Baldwin of Dade City, Fla. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Brittany (Jay) Demaske, Mindy Donald and Johnnie Donald; great grandchildren, Madison Catherine and Morgan Devonna Demaske; brothers Charles (Beverly) Donald of Milwaukee and Robert (Ruby) Donald of Cayuga, Ind.; sister Olive Bailey of Danville, Ill.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Catherine Donald; and two brothers, Richard and Carroll Donald. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 20, at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 6031 West Chapel Hill Road in Mequon. He will be inurned at Crossroads Memory Garden with full military honors. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hospice Advantage whose staff cared for John so lovingly; Hospice Advantage, 3325 Behrens Parkway, Sheboygan, WI 53081.
