John H. Roy, 88
John Harvey Roy, 88, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at National Park Medical
Center of Hot Springs, Ark. Roy, who lived in Hot Springs, was formerly
from Cedarburg. He was born on April 17, 1923, in Pontiac, Mich., to
Earl and Ida (Saul) Roy, who preceded him in death. He attended four
years at GMAC Schoolin Flint, Mich. He married Joan Estelle Birthrong on
Oct. 20, 1945, in Birmingham, Mich.
He worked for GM Pontiac as a car distributor for 37 years. Upon
retiring, he moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark. In 2010, he moved to
West Shores Elderly Assisted Living until his death.
He is survived by Joan, his wife of 65 years, in Hot Springs; a
daughter, Terry (Paul "Hammer") Regnitz of Cedarburg; and a son, Robert
Roy of Grafton.
Also surviving him are three grandchildren, Caroline (Scott) Brandt of
Grafton, John (Angela) Regnitz of Cedarburg and Vince Roy of Grafton. He
delighted in his great-grandchildren, Reese Regnitz and Jackson Brandt.
Every day was a delight with his special four-legged friend, Sandy.
John was a member of the Hot Springs Village Shrine Club and was a
Mason. In his earlier years, he was an avid musky fisherman in the
Boulder Junction and Mercer areas, as well as fly fishing with his tied
flies. His interests were gardening, stamp collecting and reading. In
the later years, John became very good at cross stitching, leaving his
family with many of his finished works.
