James Simon, 48
James Simon, 48, of Port Washington passed
away following a heart attack on Tuesday morning, May 24, 2011.
Jim was born in West Bend on Sept. 25, 1962, the son of Claver and
Margaret Bach Simon. He was raised in Kewaskum, one of eight children. Jim
graduated from Kewaskum High School and continued his schooling at the
University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He graduated in 1988 with a degree in
social work.
He was united in marriage with Cindy Schachel at St. John’s Lutheran
Church in Port Washington on Aug. 5, 1989. The couple settled in Port
Washington in 1990. Simon was a supervisor with Goodwill Industries at
their Adult Daycare for Developmentally Disabled Adults in Menomonee
Falls, where he had worked for the last 12 years.
Jim was a devoted family man and loved watching his son play soccer and
his daughter dance. He enjoyed being outdoors and camping, as well as
coaching local Tball teams and playing Santa. Jim was a member of St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church in Grafton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy, and their children, Andrew and
Amber, all of Port Washington. He is further survived by six siblings,
Joseph Simon, Bernadette (Robert) Thorn, Kathy (the late Ronald) Yogerst,
Carol Smet, Sherry (Ken) Taylor and Mary Simon, all of Kewaskum. Other
survivors include his parents-in-law, Harold and Linda Schachel;
brother-in-law, Harold J. Schachel, all of Port Washington; sister-in-law,
Bonnie (Kelly) Jeglum of Milwaukee; nieces; nephews, great-nieces and
nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Anthony.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, 701 Washington St., Grafton. The Rev. Kenton Wendorf will
officiate. He will be inurned at Holden East Cemetery in Port Washington.
The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. to
11 a.m.
