Sylvester J. Spaeth
Sylvester J. Spaeth, 95, of West Bend, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011. He was born on Feb. 15, 1916 in the town of Jackson to the late Michael and Meta (nee Faber) Spaeth. On May 17, 1941, he married Adelia Melder at St. Patrick’s Church in Halder. After their marriage, they settled in West Bend. He was employed at the West Bend Aluminum Co. for 33 years retiring in 1978 and was a member of the 25 Year Club. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Fr. Casper Rehrl Council 1964 and the Young at Hearts Club. He enjoyed gardening, playing sheepshead and traveling and camping with his wife and their friends.
He is survived by his wife; their children, Gerald (Mary) Spaeth of Sussex, Doris Hauk of Phoenix, Ariz., Rosie and George (Jo-Ellen) of West Bend, Sylvester D. of Oak Creek, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Kristin and Jennifer Spaeth, Nicole Dean, and Mary Fuller, Amy and Heidi Spaeth, Justin and Bryan Spaeth; and four great-grandsons; sister, Florence (Roman) Mueller; brother, Roland (Marie) Spaeth, nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Theusch; son-in-law, Donald Theusch; grandsons, Jeffery and Timothy Theusch; daughter-inlaw, Julie (nee Edwards) Spaeth; brother, Howard; brother-in-law, William Melder; eight sisters-in-law, Bernice (Howard) Spaeth, Gertrude (Arthur) Spaeth, Theresa (Henry) Peters, Margaret (Lawrence) Spaeth, Anna (Frank) Spaeth, Sister Genedine, Catherine and Marie Melder.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Sylvester will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Parish (1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend) with the Rev. Nathan Reesman presiding. The Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 7 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend). A Prayer Vigil will take place at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
Interment will take place at Holy Angels Cemetery immediately following the Mass on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Frances Cabrini Parish or the American Cancer Society are requested by the family.
The family would like to thank all the nursing staff at the Samaritan Health Center for the compassionate care they gave to our father.
