Allen Peter Stahl, 83

Allen Peter Stahl, 83, of West Bend passed away at the Kathy Hospice on Nov. 20, 2011. 

Allen was born in Beechwood in the town of Scott, Sheboygan County, on Aug. 15, 1928, to Arno and Olive (nee Ketter) Stahl. He was united in marriage to Lila A. Weninger on Oct. 9, 1954 at Holy Angels Church in West Bend. 

Allen graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1946 where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. After graduation, he played hardball in the Land ‘O Lakes league under management of Killian Honeck. He worked on the family farm until 1951, when he honorably served his country with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Following his discharge in 1953, he became employed by H.J. Lay Lumber Company in Kewaskum and served as its manager for 9 years. In 1962, he became manager of Barker Lumber Company in Random Lake until his retirement in 1990. 

Allen was an avid sportsman, passionate about hunting, fishing, especially on Lake Michigan. He was also active in the Random Lake Gun Club and an Honorary Member of the Beechwood Fire Department. 

Allen is survived by his loving wife, Lila of 57 years, four children, Christine (Tom) Calenberg of West Bend, Thomas (fiancée Elizabeth Scharenbroch) Stahl of New Holstein, John (Denise) Stahl of Kewaskum, and Michael (Lori) Stahl of Delavan; seven grandchildren, April Stahl of Denver, Alex Calenberg of the U.S Marines Afghanistan, Ashlee, Marisa and Dawson Stahl, and Mitchell and Mason Stahl; one great-grandchild, Jovie Lynn McDonough, Denver; sister-in-law, Gloria Bonlender of West Bend; special relative, Agnes Vorpahl of West Bend; and many other special relatives and friends. 

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, special cousin William Vorpahl Jr., brother-in-laws Lester Bonlender and Jerome Kandel, and sister-in-law Angeline Kandel. 

A Mass of Christian burial in memory of Allen, will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend with Father Nathan Reesman presiding. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:45 the CHURCH ONLY on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Washington County Memorial Park. 

The family has requested memorials to the St. Frances Cabrini Education Fund. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Kathy Hospice for the loving care of their husband and father. 

"Taken from us too soon, his family will forever miss him for he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who had a heart of gold and always put his family first. He will forever be in our hearts. We will miss him and love him always. May he rest in peace."
